An old (Númenórean?) name for the region of Gondor, also appearing in the longer forms Hyaralondië and Turmen Hyallondiéva (PE17/28). It is a compound of the prefix hyar- “south” and londië “harbourage”. In the short name, the r of hyar- is assimilated to the l of londië.
