ᴱN. avosaith n. “gloomy places” (Category: Darkness)
A word translated “gloomy places” from the Nebrachar poem written around 1930 (MC/217). Its etymology is unclear. In the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s, G. avosaith was glossed “avarice” (GL/20), but in its later interpretation as “gloomy places”, its final element might be G. gath “gloom, blight” < ᴱ✶ı̯ādh (GL/37).
