A hypothetical early root explaining the words ᴱQ. hunto/G. funt “elephant” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s (QL/41). Given the hu-/fu- variation in Qenya versus Gnomish, the true root is probably ᴱ√ǶUNU. Likely this root was made obsolete by later elephant words.
