G. taru¹ n. “cross; crossing” (Category: Cross)
A word appearing as G. {taru, tarb >>} taru in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s meaning either “cross” or “crossing” (GL/69), clearly the equivalent of ᴱQ. tarwe “cross, crucifix” under the early root ᴱ√TARA¹ in the contemporaneous Qenya Lexicon (QL/89).
Neo-Sindarin: Since I retain ᴺQ. tarwë “cross, crucifix” for purposes of Neo-Quenya, I would retain ᴺS. taru for Neo-Sindarin as well, but only in the sense “cross, *crucifix”. For “crossing” I would use later words like athrad.
