Ilk. esg¹ n. “sedge, reed” (Category: Grass)
A noun meaning “sedge” derived from the root ᴹ√ESEK (Ety/ESEK), probably from a primitive form *✶eseke. The middle [e] was lost due to the Ilkorin syncope, and afterwards the [esk] became [esg], as suggested by Helge Fauskanger (AL-Ilkorin/esg).
