ᴺS. !esgia- v. “to smoke (intr.)” (Category: Smoke)

ᴺS. !esgia-, v. “to smoke (intr.)” [created by Paul Strack] (Category: Smoke)
G. foltha- “to emit smoke, smoulder, reek”
G. fug- “to smoulder”

A neologism coined by Paul Strack as an intransitive verb for “to smoke”, inspired by Shihali’s neologism ᴺQ. ustya- < *us(u)kya-. In Sindarin the ancient sk became sg, while the short u became o and then o > œ > e via i-affection; compare [N.] delia- < *dulya- (Ety/DUL). In older versions of this Lexicon this word was **ysgia- based on different assumptions on how vowel affection works in Sindarin.
