ᴱQ. qitima adj. “for knitting” (Category: to Weave)
An adjective appearing as ᴱQ. qitima “for knitting” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√QITYI (QL/78). It was followed by two phrase: oa qitima “*knitting wool” and {pirinda qitima >>} pirindi qitimar “*knitting rods/pins”, the latter presumably meaning “*knitting needles” as suggested by the editors.
Neo-Quenya: I update the early root to ᴺ√KWIT “knit” to serve as the basis for Neo-Quenya “knitting” words, and would therefore retain ᴺQ. quitima “(for) knitting”. I’d update the two phrases as tó quitima and pirindi quitimë, to be compatible with (a) the later word [ᴹQ.] tó for “wool” and (b) the later pluralization rules for adjectives.
