This phonetic change is common to all Eldarin languages and is very well attested. Most likely this was a parallel change rather than a change taking place in Common Eldarin; there is evidence that it occurred later in Quenya @@@. This change is sufficiently common that it is omitted from the etymologies of Ilkorin words unless it is explicitly documented.
